Field Trips

Field Trips

School-wide Crusader Game

During the school year the PLACE 2 class goes on numerous field trips.

District Christmas Party

In the month of December, we always attend the district wide PLACE Christmas Party. This is an extremely fun field trip where all PLACE students in our district gather to celebrate Christmas with a potluck lunch, games, caroling and a visit from the big guy, Santa!

Fine Arts

January field trips typically take us to the theatre. Our students attend a performance from one of our junior or senior high Drama productions.

Swimming Lessons

The months of May and June are our swimming lessons. Once a week our students are placed in small groups or 1:1, depending on needs, and receive swimming lessons from trained instructors at Emerald Hills Swimming Pool.

Walking Field Trips

Throughout the school year our students go on walking field trips around our Westboro neighborhood. A walking field trip teaches many things. We use it to teach Pedestrian Awareness and Safety. Students are taught to use their senses and to look left-right-left to keep them safe while walking and crossing roads. We also use these field trips as a self-regulation strategy. Students are taught that going for a walk can keep us in the "green zone" and the health benefits of a healthy body and mind. Lastly, we have also used our walks as a literacy lesson. Students will take pictures on the iPADS of our walks and use them as writing prompts when we return to school.
