We are very fortunate to have the wonderful and passionate Mrs. Courtney Richard as our music teacher. She completed her Masters in Music for Students with Special Needs and created a program that supports students with all abilities! She is just amazing!
Mrs. Richard exposes our students to a variety of experiences through song, dance and body movement. She has also adapted musical instruments so all students can explore at their level. Her music classes combine math, social studies, science and literacy at different times throughout the year to give our students a whole learning experience.
One of my favourite times of the year in music is the school Christmas concert as it involves all students from our school. The PLACE 2 students practice and perform with our grade 5 classes using instruments and movement to demonstrate their learning and give parents an amazing performance! It truly does warm my heart to see our students on the stage performing.
